During the history of the town of Dedham, there have been five post offices.
Briefly, the history of these five is as follows:
1. Dedham post office operated from 1 November 1852 to 30 June 1913.
2. East Dedham posr office operated from 9 June 1877 to 31 August 1904.
3. Fitz Mills post office operated from 13 May 1829 to 28 November 1829.
4. Green Lake post ofice operated from 11 April 1890 to 13 October 1972.
5. Lucerne-in-Maine post office operated from 14 September 1926 to 15 August 1942.
In 1914 there was only one post office in Dedham: Green Lake. (source: Post Route Map of the State of Maine 1914)

The outer circle of the postmark is approximately 28 mm in diameter; the inner, 17–18 mm.

The outer circle of the postmark is approximately 28 mm in diameter; the inner, approximately 16 mm. The diameter of the outside circle of the three-circle cancellation is approximately 20 mm.
