During the history of Elliottsville Township, there have been three post offices.
Briefly, the history of these post office is as follows:
1. Borestone post office opened on 28 December 1917 and closed on 30 August 1919.
2. Elliottsville post office, a private office, opened on 13 May 1836 and closed on 13 December 1865.
3. Onawa post office opened on 25 January 1895, closed on 12 September 1895, re-opened 12 August 1897, closed 1 April 1899, re-opened 26 March 1900, and closed 4 December 1970.
In 1914, there was only one post office in what is now Elliottsville Township: Onawa. (source: Post Route Map of the State of Maine 1914)
